Documents for travel by a private jet

A chartered private jet is an entirely different experience as compared with a flight by an ordinary commercial airline. The services of Aviav TM (Cofrance SARL) have been tailored to take care of our customers’ convenience and comfort, and we have spared no effort to make your trip as efficient, fast and agreeable as possible.

Business aviation includes smooth document processing and transfer to/from the airport, simplified immigration procedures, and the possibility of carrying bulky baggage or animals in the cabin. Following are our answers to some frequent questions by our customers.

Once you are aware of all details of a trip by a private business jet, all you will need to do is enjoy a flawless flight.

How long in advance of the flight do I need to arrive at the airport?

If you travel by a private jet, there is no need to arrive at the airport several hours before departure. Some airports have better facilities than others in terms of servicing business travelers. Boarding procedures take between five and thirty minutes (including the required security control).

Your personal consultant from the staff of Aviav TM (Cofrance SARL) will advise you in advance of the exact time you need for going through formalities depending on the airport and your flight.

Do I need a passport for travel by a private jet?

Irrespective of whether you travel by a personal jet, a commercial airliner, train or car, immigration regulations are the same.

For example, the French may use their national identity cards to travel within the Schengen Area. However, Russian nationals going to Europe need a foreign travel passport and a visa.

Do I need a visa for travel by a private jet?

Like in the case of any commercial flight it is vital for you to take care of all immigration formalities when thinking about your future trip by a private jet. Entry to the territory of foreign states is subject, inter alia, to obtaining a visa, if applicable.

Feel free to contact the staff of Cofrance SARL for details of the procedures required to make your travel seamless.

When do I have to show or send a copy of my passport?

When you charter a private jet flight, a staff-member of Aviav TM (Cofrance SARL) asks you to send a copy of the passport (or another appropriate identification document) of each passenger before the flight for Aviav TM and the aircraft operator to fill in a passenger list. This is an official document used by immigration authorities, the crew and the terminal.

A passenger list makes it possible to send immigration information in advance and to avoid checks at the airport for internal flights within France and the Schengen Area thus simplifying administrative procedures and saving passengers’ time.

However, it is essential for you to have your immigration documents during the trip, as the police and customs authorities can ask you to confirm your identity at any time.

You will be requested by authorities to present your identity document at the airport in international travel by private aircraft.

Do I need to have my baggage scanned or X-rayed?

Like in the case of any commercial flight, your baggage undergoes an X-ray check. However, forget about large hangars and long waiting lines. The security procedures are smooth and superfast. Business terminals are designed to make travel by a private jet expeditious and efficient.

Some airports even lack baggage scanning requirements. For example, the Cannes air terminal allows passengers travelling by jets lighter than 15 tons (such as Citation XLS + or Learjet 70) direct access to their aircraft bypassing the security system if their flight is within the Schengen Area. The Turks and Caicos terminal provides small golf cars to carry guests and baggage from the aircraft to the passport control desk.

Do I have to show my air ticket?

You need no tickets to fly a private jet.

When you charter a private jet with Aviav TM, you charter the entire aircraft meaning that you don’t have a designated seat in the cabin. Accordingly, you don’t need a ticket. All you need is to arrive at the airport. Your pilots will meet you in the private terminal and accompany your baggage to the aircraft.

Our team will e-mail you the flight plan with all details required for your travel, including the itinerary, schedule, directions to the airport, and even the aircraft registration numbers and the pilots’ names.

Does my dog or cat also need a passport?

Pets also have their passports like humans!

To be able to travel with you, your four-footed companion must have a passport and a medical record book updated as of the travel dates.

However, some countries impose special requirements. For example, for travel to the UK your pet must be rabies vaccinated.

Do you have any more questions? The team of Aviav TM is always available to consult you. Feel free to contact us in the Internet or by phone.

We wish you enjoyable air travels and great moods with Aviav TM (Cofrance SARL)!
